It won’t be long now before the weather begins to change. The days will get longer, the temperature will get colder and the leaves on the trees will begin to change color. Soon Autumn will be upon us and fall will user in the winter. That means one thing. Boot season.
Going to the mall and searching the shoe stores for the perfect fitting boot is easy. But, not all of us have the time and we can’t always find the brand or the style that we want at the shoe store so it becomes a wasted trip.
Shopping for boots on-line is easy and convenient. There are hundreds of brands and thousands of styles to choose from and we see immediately if the pair of boots we want is in stock or on re-order or no longer available. But, when you are buying boots online there are other things that need to be considered.
Buying Boots Online
The most important thing to consider when buying boots on-line is the sizing. This isn’t just about the shoe size rather it’s the size of your calf. If you are a slim or a petite woman, finding a pair of boots that fits properly around the calf can become a tedious and frustrating chore. So, when shopping online here are some useful pointers.
Most boots are made to fit the average woman. The average shaft length is about 17 inches and the calf size is about 15 inches. If you are a petite woman, 5’3” or less, the average sized boot will then go past your knee. If you are a slender woman, with slimmer calves, the boot will be loose and won’t give you the look you want to achieve.
Women with skinny calves simply can’t wear all styles of boots. You may want to consider looking at stretch boots that are made from materials with elasticity. Once you put them on, stretch boots will either adhere snugly to your calf or fit closely enough so no additional padding is needed. For a petite woman, some stretch boots can be folded down at the top for a proper fit and it doesn’t change the fashion look you are going for.
Another style to consider is any boot with zippers, laces, buckles, and straps. These styles are the obvious choices for women with slimmer calves. Most zippered boots and designed for a snug fit and if they are a little loose, that can easily be fixed by wearing a thicker pair of socks. Any boot with laces, buckles or straps can be easily adjusted to the proper fit and provide a very stylish look. If the boot is still too loose, then some padding like boot cuffs should solve the problem. Shorter women may want to consider buying boots with a shaft height of about 15 inches or another option would be to go for a mid calf boot.
